Problems with Lyx in connection to JabRef

Hi there,

I use Lyx 1.5 in connection with JabRef 2.2 as a bibliography data-base.
Now, no matter which style I use, Lyx isn’t able to show the bibliography in
a proper way. It either leaves out important fields, such as location, adds
fields, which I do not want to be shown, such as notes, and last but not
least it even changes small and big letters in the titles given.

As the basic system on my computer I use Windows XP. Any help? Under
document options I chose Nat.bib style, as the style of the bibliography I
chose plain.nat.

Many thanks in advance,

Gudrun Meyer

This is not LyX's fault at all. The bst file alone is responsible for which
fields are shown (and how).

This is a BibTeX "feature", apparently useful for the English writing world.
You need to use a bst file that suppresses this or embrace titles like "Ein
{T}itel mit {G}ro\ssbuchstaben".

If you do not find a suitable style file, you can easily create your own.
Type "latex makbst" in a console window, and answer the questions.

What kind exactly of bibliographic style you are looking for ? Natbib is for
references in text of your paper with numbers (Like Meyer2007b said... bla
bla.. and long references in an annexed bibliography)

Looking at your signature, you seem to be working in the Humanities, then
jurabib or biblatex (more experimental and not supported out of the box in
LyX) is more adapted to you if you want something like :
Footnote 1 : G. Meyer, Skiing in the Renaissance in the Swiss Mountains,
Bern : Bern University Press, 2008, p. 89.
Footnote 2 : Ibid., p. 90

Charles

I tried this on my Windows XP installation and got the following message.
I also searched for files named makbst on my system and with google on the internet
and could not find anything appropriate. Any suggestions where I can find this package?
Bob
C:\>latex makbst
This is pdfeTeX, Version 3.141592-1.30.6-2.2 (MiKTeX 2.5)
entering extended mode
! I can't find file `makbst'.

Try "latex makebst" instead.

(the package is called "custom-bib")
