a0poster layouts and examples

Dear LyX users,

I did a revision of my a0poster layout and came up with 2 variants:

1. Simple layout, using the plain a0poster class leaving the
structuring to the user:

a0poster.layout
poster-test.lyx

2. Advanced layout, using the a0poster class and an a0poster-kh.sty package
(derived from a0poster-kh.tex) with additional commands for poster
generation (using pstricks).

a0poster-kh.layout
a0poster-kh.sty
poster-kh-test.lyx

The format of the layout files is for LyX >= 1.5.

Feedback welcome.

For further improvement, I'd like to know:
Is there a description on how to define new floats in a layout file?
Is it possible, to define new box types in a layout file?

Dear Guenter,
I'm digging this up from the grave.. Do you have more recent a0poster
or sciposter layouts?

I tried the 2007 ones (including this 2008 barebones sciposter
layout: http://www.mail-archive.com/lyx-***@lists.lyx.org/msg63740.html
) and they work fine with 2.1 trunk. So I was wondering if we could
update and polish them, and then publish them on the wiki. This seems
like a recurring query, and it would be nice to have something working
available.

Please let me know. Regards,
Liviu

FWIW beamerposter works quire well without a specific layout (i.e., with LyX's
beamer layout).

Do you have 2.0.6 or 2.1 in mind? Could you post some example file for
beamerposter?

Thanks,
Liviu

Both.

See attached. More serious (LaTeX) examples are here:

Thanks, Jürgen. Do you have an idea why beamerposter seemingly works
only with Berlin theme? I tried Warsaw and Darmstadt and others to no
avail.

You mean beamerposter in general or my example? In General, I can use all
sorts of themes with no problem.
With my example, I have redefined the headline theme of Berlin in the preamble
in order to create a poster heading. This has to be altered for other themes.

However, it is advisable anyway to set up a dedicated poster theme.

I have it working with

\usetheme{Madrid}
\usecolortheme{freewilly}

in the preamble without issues.
